Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state, has officially presented the Staff and certificate of office to the new Alaafin-elect, Prince Akeem Abimbola Owoade,.
The significant , but brief event which took place at government house , Agodi, Ibadan at early Monday morning, marking the formal ascension of the new monarch, the 46th Alaafin, to the revered throne of Oyo kingdom.
While presenting the official tools of office to the new monarch , Governor Makinde described the Alaafin-elect as a leader poised to uphold the cultural and historical heritage of the Oyo Kingdom.
The governor added that the Alaafin of Oyo is not just a traditional ruler but a custodian of rich history and tradition, he expressed belief that Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade will lead his subjects with wisdom, integrity, and a commitment to the unity of the Oyo kingdom.
The event was graced by dignitaries, traditional rulers, government officials, and enthusiastic Oyo indigene and well-wishers.
RulersWorldtv news reports that Prince Abimbola, Owoade from Gbadegeshin Owoade ruling house succeeds the late Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, from Alowolodu ruling house, and ruled the Oyo Kingdom for 50 years, before he passed on in 2022,
In his acceptance speech, after the coronation, the new Alaafin, Kabiyesi Akeem Abimbola OWoade expressed gratitude to the people of Oyo and pledged to prioritize the kingdom’s development and the welfare of its people.
