Dangote Group Emerges Nigeria’s Top Taxpayer, Remits Over N402bn in 2024

6th March, 2025

Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) and its subsidiaries have reaffirmed their status as Nigeria’s highest taxpayers, remitting over N402 billion in taxes in 2024.

Chief Branding and Communication Officer of Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina, disclosed this during a meeting with senior media executives at his Lagos office. He emphasized that the conglomerate, which includes Dangote Cement, NASCON, and Dangote Packaging Limited, remains committed to its financial obligations.

“As a responsible business entity, we have never shied away from our duties to the government or our host communities. Our tax contributions reflect our commitment to national development,” Chiejina stated.

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) had earlier recognized Dangote Industries Limited and its subsidiary, Bluestar Shipping, as the most tax-compliant organizations in Nigeria. This recognition was announced during the 2024 Lagos International Trade Fair, organized by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).

Chiejina further highlighted Dangote Group’s role in Nigeria’s economic landscape, noting that the company has driven self-sufficiency in cement and refined petroleum products while expanding its influence across Africa.

In addition to its tax contributions, Dangote Cement Plc, a key subsidiary, secured three awards at the FMDQ Gold Awards in Lagos, emerging as the most active corporate player in Nigeria’s foreign exchange market. It was also recognized for the largest commercial paper quotation and the single largest corporate debt issue on the FMDQ platform.

The Dangote Group’s tax contributions and business performance reinforce its position as a leading force in Nigeria’s private sector, playing a crucial role in economic growth and stability.
