The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has intensified its crackdown on internet fraudsters in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, with the arrest of 37 suspects within a week.
The latest operation, carried out by operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Directorate on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, led to the arrest of 15 individuals in the Tanke Oke-Odo area. This followed an earlier raid on Friday, March 22, which resulted in the apprehension of 22 suspects across Tanke, Alao Farm Estate, Yidi Road, and Irewolede.
According to a statement issued by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the arrests were based on credible intelligence linking the suspects to internet-related fraud. Items recovered from them included eight luxury cars, high-end laptops, and smartphones.
“These operations reflect our commitment to ridding society of financial crimes. The suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations,” Oyewale stated.
The EFCC has maintained a strong presence in Ilorin, with regular clampdowns on cybercrime. Residents have commended the agency’s efforts, urging continued vigilance to deter young people from engaging in fraudulent activities.
