Thousands of malnourished children in Kwara State are set to benefit from a major nutrition intervention, as the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Kwara State Government have flagged off the distribution of 3,964 cartons of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) to combat severe acute malnutrition across the state.
The distribution, which began with an initial batch of 1,982 cartons, is funded under the Child Nutrition Fund (CNF)—a matching grant mechanism that sees both UNICEF and the state government contribute equal financial commitments to boost child health.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, while receiving the nutrition supplies in Ilorin, said the state’s contribution of $100,000 was a reflection of its commitment to the well-being of vulnerable children.
