Medical and health workers in Kwara State have commended Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for approving key demands that aim to boost healthcare delivery and motivate frontline workers across the state.
The Chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), Kwara State Council, Comrade Bolatito Oladele Isaac, expressed satisfaction with the state government’s decision to approve the 2024 CONHESS salary structure, alongside rural and teaching allowances for qualified health personnel.
“This is a commendable step by Governor Abdulrazaq in addressing the welfare of our members and strengthening the healthcare system, especially in underserved areas,” Comrade Bolatito stated after a meeting with government representatives.
He noted that the implementation of these allowances would help encourage more workers to serve in rural communities where healthcare access remains a challenge.
While celebrating the outcome of the negotiations, the union leader urged other states to follow Kwara’s example in supporting healthcare professionals. He also applauded the efforts of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and all union stakeholders for their role in the successful dialogue.
Comrade Bolatito urged medical workers in the state to reciprocate the government’s gesture through increased dedication and professionalism.
He added that discussions with the government on other outstanding demands are still ongoing.
