Pope Francis Condemns Benue Killings, Offers Prayers For Victims

Benue Attacks:

Pope Francis Leo has offered prayers for victims of the fresh massacre in Benue State, where about 200 people were reportedly killed in a frsh attack on rural communities by the suspected headers

In his Submission, just before the Sunday Angelus prayer, the Pope described the violence as devastating, noting that most of the victims were internally displaced persons sheltered by a local Catholic mission in Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area, of Benue State.

While expressing deep concern for Nigeria, Pope prayed for peace and security in the country and highlighted the needs to address the vulnerability of rural Christian communities to attacks in Benue.

Pope Leo XIV also remembered victims of ongoing conflicts in Sudan, Myanmar, Ukraine, and the Middle East during the Angelus address.
Maintained that peace must reign Supreme all over the world.


Meanwhile, Benue State indegenes on Sunday were on the street to protest against incessant brutal Killings in the Community .

The angry protesters, dressed in black and wielding placards, with demonstration in the streets to demand justice and immediate action from the state and federal governments
to stop the dastardly act of loosing lives and properties in the State.

Their chants filled the air with grief and outrage, as they called for an end to the unrelenting attacks by suspected armed herdsmen.

The peaceful demonstration, however, turned chaotic when security forces arrived at the scene and fired teargas canisters to break up the crowd.
