Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has sworn in Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe and Dr. Maryam Nnafatima Imam as new commissioners, urging them to embrace teamwork and align with his administration’s drive for sustainable development across key sectors.

The cabinet shake-up saw Olohungbebe taking charge of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, while Nnafatima Imam assumed office as the Commissioner for Social Development.

The restructuring also moved Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu to the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Dr. Mary Arinde to the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.

Further adjustments saw Lafia Aliyu Kora Sabi heading the newly created Ministry of Transportation, while Olohuntoyosi Thomas Adebayo transitioned from Agriculture and Rural Development to lead the new Ministry of Livestock Development. Dr. Afeez Abolore now oversees Agriculture and Rural Development, and Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh takes over Solid Minerals after leaving Social Development.

Speaking at the inauguration, Governor AbdulRazaq described the new commissioners as individuals with proven dedication, noting that their elevation from Senior Special Assistants was well deserved.

“This marks the beginning of a fresh chapter, one that demands renewed commitment to public service, integrity, and vision,” he said.

“Our administration has made measurable progress in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social protection. It is now your responsibility to consolidate and expand these gains.”

The governor emphasized the importance of collaboration in governance, charging the appointees to engage with the people, think outside the box, and apply prudence in decision-making.

“As you step into these new roles, creativity and responsiveness should guide your actions. Governance is a collective effort, and we must continue to work together to leave Kwara better than we met it,” he added.

AbdulRazaq congratulated the new commissioners and expressed confidence in their ability to contribute meaningfully to the administration’s vision for the state.
