Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has warned traditional rulers in Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin Osun communities to ensure sustained peace efforts or risk serious consequences, including possible removal from the throne.

A statement issued on Monday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, indicated that the warning followed reports of renewed tensions and plans for fresh attacks in the conflict-prone areas.

“In the midst of the Sallah celebrations, I received reports of certain individuals planning another round of conflicts in Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin Osun. Security agencies have heightened surveillance to prevent any attacks,” Adeleke stated.

He emphasized that security operatives were interrogating key figures involved in the crisis and reaffirmed that the peace agreements signed by community leaders must be taken seriously.

“The relaxation of the curfew was done on humanitarian grounds because we recognize the suffering of innocent residents due to the actions of a few elements. However, any attempt to exploit this adjustment to instigate violence will lead to the full reimposition of the 24-hour curfew,” he warned.

The governor further declared that any traditional ruler under whose watch violence resurfaces would be removed.

“This is a final warning. Royal fathers must take control of their subjects. If violence erupts again, I will not hesitate to wield the big stick. Enough is enough,” he added.
