Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia, President and Chief Executive Officer of FUNAB Group of Companies Limited, is set to be turbaned as the Dan Amana of Fune Emirate in Yobe State in recognition of his selfless service, loyalty and outstanding contributions to community development across Nigeria.
The ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Emir’s Palace in Damagum, coincides with the 25th anniversary of the reign of the Emir of Fune, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dr. Saleh Ibn Uthman. A special prayer and other celebratory events will also take place, including the wedding of the children of Yobe State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana, who holds the title of Wazirin Fune.

According to a statement released by Malam Abdulrahman Aliagan, Director of Communications to Alhaji Ajia, the Emir described Ajia as “a dependable, selfless, and humble personality whose contributions to Fune Emirate have been consistent and impactful.”
“The title Dan Amana, which means ‘Custodian of Trust,’ is conferred only on individuals who have shown unwavering loyalty, trustworthiness, and commitment to communal growth,” the Emir added.
Ajia’s long-standing relationship with the Fune Emirate began during his time as a Security Aide to the late Governor of Yobe State, Senator Mamman B. Ali. He played a strategic role in maintaining communication between the state government and the traditional leadership. He later served as Aide-de-Camp to the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, who also holds a traditional title in the Emirate.
His philanthropic works span education, healthcare, youth development and humanitarian support. Across the country, Ajia has empowered vulnerable groups, including orphans, widows and students, without regard to ethnicity or religion.

“Alhaji Ibrahim Ajia has consistently demonstrated a passion for service beyond personal gain. This honour is a reflection of the trust the Emirate and the nation place in him,” the statement read.
Dignitaries expected at the silver jubilee celebration include the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Dr. Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Shehu of Borno, the Emir of Zazzau, the Emir of Bauchi, and the Emir of Lafia. Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, who is also the Chiroma of Gurba and Sardauna of Fune, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour.
The statement concluded by inviting friends, associates and well-wishers to witness the turbaning ceremony and celebrate “a man whose life continues to reflect patriotism, humility, and commitment to national development.”
