As part of preparations for the 22nd National Sports Festival named Gateway Games 2025 to be held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Atiode -a leading Solar Energy Outfit based in Benin City, Edo State is staging her maiden Badminton Tournament on 9th May, 2025 that will also serve as the final trials for state Athletes to be picked by the State Badminton Association for the Gateway games
The tournament that comprises every medal category as well as Male and Female Deaf Badminton is intended to help the players focus and get in competition shape as they prepare to bring laurels to Edo State
Amongst those expected to contest for the cash prizes are Ruth Ebere the winner of the last National Sports Festival held in Delta State 2022 and her runner up then Deborah Ukeh who won a medal at the Mixed Doubles at the recently staged African Badminton Championships in Douala, Cameroun
This is billed to be a great rematch between both season teammates and foes.
