Benue Killings:
In the wake of the Benue Massacres President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has queried the reason why the police are yet to make any arrest of the criminals that masterminds the killing of hundreds of people in Benue state, calling on them to take swift actions and bring the perpetrators into justice.
Tinubu made the call on Wednesday during his condolence visit to Benue state, where he emphasized on the need to prioritize peace as a veritable tool for development.
President Tinubu however, urged them to put more effort towards the protection of lives and property of the citizens, charged them to keep their ears to the ground and fish out the criminals that are terrorising some parts of the country.
The President lauded the people of Benue for maintaining decorum since the day of the incident.
He stated that he was not only in Benue to show face but to express condolence with them and share in their grievance.
He assured them that in no time the tragedy would be converted to prosperity.
President Tinubu thereby sued the people of Benue to work hand in hand with the Governor of the state in a quest to find lasting solution to the predicament, ordering the formation of peace committee that will consist of elders, past governors as well as the non indigenes.
In his remark, the Governor of Benue state, Hyacinth Alia, expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his love and concern towards the people of Benue and its communities, He noted that he hopes the President’s visit bring an end to the security challenges in the state as he maintained that this visit is a reassurance of the President support and cares for his people.
Governor Alia equally thanks the citizens and residents of Benue for their cooperation and commitment towards the progress of Benue state, he hereby reaffirmed his administration commitment to working and ensure that the people of Benue are not only save but also thrive in their daily routines
