EDUCATION: Set goals, be objective, discover yourself, Provost AAU Ibadan campus, Prof Gbolagade, don tell Students.

…… Urges the students not to disappoint the School at the labour market, after their program.

EDUCATION:
Provost, Adekunle Ajasin University, Ibadan Campus, Prof Taiwo Abiodun Gbolagade on Sunday urged the students of the institution to set goals for themselves in their various academic pursuits to attain the very best they desire in future.

Prof. Gbolagade gave the charge in Ibadan, in his address during the orientation program organized by the department of Political Science to welcome the newly enrolled 100 level students of the department for the 2024/2025 academic session in the Institution.

Provost, implored the students to discover themselves, be focused,
embrace the opportunities loaded in lucrative field of being a graduate of political science
and always engaged in activities that will enhance greater future for them.

“I welcome you all and really appreciate the organizers of this programme, You should all know why you are here, and I congratulate you for your noble choice of taking Adekunle Ajasin University, Ibadan campus as your preferred institution for your academic progress,”

“Let me tell you, Adekunle Ajasin university, Ibadan campus is one of the best institution in Nigeria, AAU does not delay result, and Ibadan campus is one of the campus approved for NYSC program, by National Universities commission NUC.” he said.

He maintained that, the institution did not condoned indiscipline and indolence from the students, as they always look forward to be proud of the graduands at all times.

” Nigerians are poised for you on various field to showcase your academic skills, talents and potentials after your study here, you should not disappoint the school in the labour market after your graduation, as you can see people will always refer to your institution whenever there is an issues, just like those three women from the Ministry of Humanitarian affairs currently being under probe by EFCC for financial corruption, You should therefore be morally and academically disciplined both here and outside there when you are through with your study”.

On his part, The guest lecturer Dr Idowu Johnson from the Political Science department, University of Ibadan, admonished the Students to face reality of life, seek for mentoring, tap from wealth of experience from both their lecturers and colleagues, he emphasized that they should not be a triangular being students, who moved from home to School, religious centre and back home, but engaged in ejaculatory reading style of being at alert academically at any where they found themselves.

Dr Johnson tasked the students to invest in their future academically to excel in life ,

He said, ” You should always ask yourself, why am I here?, don’t be a conservative in nature and not be a religious bigot, update your knowledge at all times, be social with your academics because opportunity can come from anywhere. and finally look for enlightened mentor that will guide and keep your feet on the success tracks” . you should also learn, inderstand and master the language of the politics, he added.

Earlier in his welcome address, the current HOD, political Science department, Adekunle Ajasin University, Ibadan Campus, Mr Wahab, thanked Provost and the management of the institution for the enabling support and opportunities accorded both lecturers and the students towards smooth ride to the attainments of their academic goals.

“Mr Provost sir ” he said “Thank you for the opportunity giving to us to showcase our intellectualism, to showcase our talents and then to showcase the confidence instilled in us” added that
Political Science department will continue to build on the support and will never disappoint the institution.

Mr Wahab seized the opportunity to launch the slogan of the department, which is NAPSS ! One Pols !! One Voice !!!.

Other speakers at the event include, the Chairman of the Lecturers forum Mr Jude, Sub Dean, Mr Right, Dean Students affairs Mr Badru, Dean Mr Aluko, all who in their separate words of admonitions corroborated the guest lecturers submission and encouraged the students to be a good ambassadors of the institution by upholding worthy characters and reputations that will stands them out throughout their session in the institution and later in the labour market.

The occasion also had in attendance, Mr Raheem (BOT), Mr Femi Akinsola PRO, others were the lecturers Mr Adeyele T.O who anchored the program, Dr Oyesomi, Dr Afolabi Adenike, Mr Adedeji S.O, Mr Abimbola Kehinde, among others from Political Science department , other departments and the 200 and 100 level students of the political Science department.

The memorable occasion featured quiz, gist and gift presentations delivered by the President of the Political Science students association of AAU, Ibadan campus Comrade Adelekan Bolaji Tobi and Mariam Adewunmi Azeez the 100level Students governor respectively.

The vote of thanks by Mr Yusuf Ali, the former HOD of the department brought the event to a close, Ali expressed confidence in the current HOD’s ability to move the department forward and assured him of other lecturers unflinching support for the progress of the department.

He however charged the Students to be committed, ensure strict compliance to the ethics of their learning and uphold the motto of their course Political Science “justice, fairness and equity”
