The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has called on Muslims to extend the values of Ramadan beyond the fasting period, emphasizing discipline, spirituality, and communal responsibility.
In a goodwill message signed by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, Prof. Egbewole congratulated the Muslim community within and beyond the institution on the successful completion of Ramadan. He noted that Eid el-Fitri is not just a time for celebration but an opportunity for self-reflection and societal transformation.
“The essence of Ramadan goes beyond abstaining from food and drink; it is a period of personal and communal rebirth. The lessons of self-discipline, patience, and generosity should not end with Ramadan but should reflect in our daily interactions with people of all faiths,” he stated.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria urged Muslims to remain steadfast in their devotion, law-abiding in their conduct, and charitable in their dealings. He emphasized that sustaining the virtues cultivated during Ramadan could contribute to national renewal.
“If we all uphold the remarkable attitudes we displayed while fasting—honesty, kindness, and selflessness—Nigeria will be on the path to reclaiming its lost glory,” Prof. Egbewole added.
He also reassured staff and students of UNILORIN of his administration’s commitment to their welfare, urging continued cooperation for the progress of the institution.
