Eid Kabir: Muslims urged to Seek Divine Assistance as They Celebrate Sallah Festival

Muslim ummah across the World on Friday gathered to celebrate Eid-Kabir which is one of the two festivals in Islam.

This day is specially earmarked by Muslim Ummahs to commemorate the prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his only in obedience to God’s command.

In Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, some Muslims observed the two rakat prayers at Agodi Eid praying ground led by the Chief Imam of Ibadan land, Sheikh Abdulganiy Agbotomokekere.

In his sermon, Sheikh Agbotomokere Eid-Kabir as a day of fulfillment, sacrifice, patience and favour.

He implored all Muslims to take the advantage of this sacred period to seek help from Allah, adding that He is the only one capable of providing all humans’ needs.

The Chief Imam later slaughtered a symbolic sacrificial ram signalling the prophet Ibrahim’s obedience to Allah’s injunction to sacrifice his son Ismail where he used ram to replace the son.

The prayer had in attendance eminent personalities, captain of industries, political office holders, including the Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Barrister Abduraheem Lawal, the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewolu Ladoja who equally served as the representative of Olubadan, former deputy Governor of Oyo state, Ambassador Taofeeq Arapaja, the Chairman Oyo state Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon. Akeem Ige, among others

In his Sallah message to the people of Oyo state, Governor Seyi Makinde felicitated with Muslim faithfuls across the state. He appreciated their support, prayers and sacrifice for his administration and prayed for them to witness more of the festival on earth.

While speaking with the reporters shortly after the Eid prayer, Chief Bayo Adelabu congratulated Muslim faithfuls across the country, describing the celebration as a special one that should be embraced and given more attention.

He thanked all Nigerians for standing strong and supporting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, assuring them of more dividends of democracy in the years to come.

Also speaking with the reporters, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, commended Nigerians for peaceful coexistence despite the diversity in religion.

He stated that the celebration is not only for Muslims but all Nigerians, urging them to continue to embrace peace and harmony amongst other religious adherents.

Eid Kabir is being celebrated yearly all over the world to mark Prophet Ibrahim’s adherence to the promise made to God.
