Nationwide protest begins in Ibadan

The much anticipated nationwide strike tagged “end bad governance” has kick starts all over Nigeria,

The protest aimed at calling government attention to find lasting solution to hunger, scorching hardship facing Nigeria citizens observed across the designated places in Nigeria including Oyo state, with protesters in a peaceful procession in every nook and cranny of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

The movement in IBADAN started around 9:30 am at Iwo road with protesters matching down toward mokola, while some concerned protesters kicstarted their own movement from Univeristy of Ibadan side to join others at Mokola roundabout chanting variety of songs and displaying numerous banners

According to the protesters, their demand is to return normalcy to the aspect of the state economy, regulate the price of foodstuff and make life bearable and worth living for common Nigerians (00214, 00215,

They stated that the current federal government policy is not favourable to the masses, thereby admonished them to reverse and scrap the constitution of 1999 and adopt a policy that will make life easier for the citizens

A legal practitioner who spoke with our correspondent in Ibadan commended the youths for coming out in numbers to express their grievances, he noted that the right to protest is a right that is guaranteed by the constitutional of the land.

The protest was well maintained and supervised by the men of Nigeria security agencies in a bid to have a peaceful and violence free protest, Oyo state Commissioner Of police commended the protesters for cooperating and adhering to the directives of the state government and the warning of Nigeria police, he reassure them that they will continue to be protected throughout the period of making their agitation known to the government , via the staged protest.

The protesters expressed their excitement and satisfaction towards the service of Nigeria police, thereby applauded them for the protection of life and property while the protest was ongoing.

They disclosed that they will keep maintaining peace and cooperate with the security agencies making vows of handling over anyone who want to cause trouble or constitute any form of unruly act to the police themselves, while the protest last.

The protest is expected to continue tomorrow as it bid to last for 10 Days
