The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced this on behalf of the government, congratulating the Muslim community on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.
In his statement, Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged Muslims to uphold the virtues of self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace, stressing the need for love, forgiveness, and unity in fostering a harmonious society. He also called on Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for the country’s peace, stability, and prosperity, expressing hope that Eid-el-Fitr would promote national unity across religious and ethnic divides.
The Minister encouraged citizens to celebrate safely and responsibly, while extending kindness to the less privileged in line with the spirit of Ramadan and Eid. On behalf of the government, he wished all Muslim faithful a joyous Eid Mubarak, praying that the blessings of the season bring happiness, success, and fulfillment to all.
