First Lady’s Healthcare Initiative Takes Off in Taraba State with Medical Kit Distribution

Nigeria’s first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday, flagged off the distribution of 10,000 scrubs and crocs to midwives to enhance healthcare services in Taraba State. This development is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative of President Bola Tinubu to improve healthcare delivery in Nigeria.

Her Excellency, Oluremi Tinubu noted during the event in Jalingo that the professional kits, which include 60,000 branded scrubs and 60,000 pairs of Crocs, were being distributed to midwives nationwide, with the Northeast zone allocated 10,000 of each item. The initiative aims to support midwives with professional gear to improve maternal and child healthcare services across the country.

The first lady, emphasized the importance of economic empowerment, particularly for women, also commended the efforts of midwives and healthcare workers in improving maternal and child health outcomes in Nigeria.

In addition to healthcare support, the First Lady stressed the need for continued awareness around HIV/AIDS prevention, especially mother-to-child transmission, which remains prevalent.
She called for collaboration with traditional leaders to disseminate information about free treatment options for HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.

She further announced that the renewed hope initiative will be presenting a N50 million business recapitalisation grant to the First Lady of Taraba state for 1,000 petty traders in Taraba State with the sum of 50,000 each.
