The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kwara State Command, has mobilized a total of 650 personnel, including officers and marshals, along with 350 Special Marshals, to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety during the upcoming Eid-El-Fitri celebrations in the state.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Mufutau A. Irekeola, stated that the deployment, which also includes 120 first responders, 16 patrol vehicles, two power bikes, four ambulances, private tow trucks, and a 70-tonne tow truck, will help monitor and manage traffic across major roads and cities in Kwara.
“Our personnel have been stationed at strategic locations in Ilorin and other major towns to ensure free movement of vehicles and swift response to any emergencies. The special patrol operation will run from March 27 to April 2, 2025,” Irekeola said.
He urged motorists to adhere strictly to traffic regulations, warning against reckless driving, excessive speeding, wrongful overtaking, overloading, and the use of phones while driving. “Drivers must ensure their vehicles are in good condition and avoid worn-out tyres or mechanically deficient vehicles,” he cautioned.
To enhance road safety awareness, the FRSC has launched a public enlightenment campaign in motor parks, markets, churches, and mosques across the state. Early morning advocacy rallies and special patrols are also ongoing to prevent traffic congestion during the festive period.
While extending his best wishes to residents for a peaceful Eid-El-Fitri celebration, Irekeola emphasized the importance of safe driving. “Only the living celebrate. Let’s drive responsibly and ensure we all return home safely,” he advised.
