Mr Francis Awowole, a senior worker of dangote refinery has revealed why dangote is still importing crude oil despite having local oil in Nigeria, Mr Awowole in a phone call interview on fresh FM program ” Agbami Oselu” on Sunday,, disclosed that what the NNPC are supplying them in term of crude oil is far below their demand.

Awowole cited oil theft, corruption and politics as the major cause of this shortage thereby making it known that NNPC cannot supply Dangote’s refinery their need alone not to talk of other refineries in operation.

According to him, they are always pre-informed by NNPC of they barrel they are going to get for the month before any supply to know their faith and also to strategize their import process.

He seized the avenue to do justice to the currency they use in purchasing directly from NNPC, by highlighting that truly they are buying in naira but the rate is is equivalent to the price in the foreign market and no slight difference as to when they were buying in dollars.

Awolola lamented that having crude oil in Nigeria suppose to be a liberation but the strong politics and manipulation surrounding the process is alarming, he noted that Nigeria is not directly responsible for selling crude oil abroad but seek help of international oil marketer on contractual term before our products get to the consumer.

Awolola proffer a tentative solution to the fuel hike and hardship by dishing out advice to federal government to consider price reduction much below the foreign market price when selling here in Nigeria and also Produce enough crude oil to all the local refineries in operation here in Nigeria.
