The Kogi State Government has placed a ban on all forms of rallies and public gatherings that could disrupt public peace, citing security concerns. Additionally, all fishing activities in Kogi Local Government Area have been suspended due to intelligence reports indicating potential threats to the state’s stability.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has directed all local government chairmen to take full responsibility for security in their respective areas, urging community leaders to sensitize residents on the importance of maintaining peace.

“The state government has received intelligence indicating attempts by certain individuals to infiltrate Kogi under the guise of security personnel, with the aim of causing unrest. This directive is to prevent unauthorized movement of armed individuals and to ensure that only accredited security operatives operate within the state,” a government statement said.

To enforce the new measures, the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd), has been mandated to collaborate with security agencies to ensure strict compliance. Security forces have been placed on high alert and will take necessary steps to prevent any breach of law and order.

The government has reassured residents that these restrictions are temporary and aimed at safeguarding lives and property. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to security agencies, as any attempt to undermine peace in the state will be met with decisive action.
