The Kwara State civil service community has been thrown into mourning following the passing of its former Head of Service, Mrs. Susan Modupe Oluwole, who died on Wednesday, March 5, at the age of 58.
Oluwole, a seasoned administrator known for her dedication and integrity, was appointed as Head of Service in 2017 by former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.
She served diligently until her retirement in 2024, leaving a legacy of commitment and professionalism.
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq expressed deep sorrow over her passing, describing her as an exemplary technocrat whose contributions to the state’s civil service were invaluable.
“She was a credible and dependable authority in civil service affairs. Her rise to the pinnacle of her career was a product of hard work, brilliance, and impeccable character,” the Governor said in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye.
Reflecting on their professional relationship, AbdulRazaq acknowledged Oluwole’s role in strengthening governance in the state, adding that he was proud to have worked with her.
He extended condolences to her family, particularly her husband and elderly father, as well as to the entire civil service community.
A senior civil servant who worked closely with Oluwole described her as “a dedicated professional who upheld the values of integrity and diligence in the Kwara State Civil Service.”
Before her appointment as Head of Service, she served as the Permanent Secretary in charge of Service Welfare, where she advocated for the well-being of civil servants. Her passing has left many colleagues and associates grieving, with tributes pouring in to honor her contributions to public service.
