The Kwara State Government has restated its determination to boost economic activities and open up more communities through strategic road construction and rehabilitation across the state.

Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo, made this known during a tour of ongoing road projects in the Kwara South Senatorial District on Tuesday, emphasizing that the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is committed to using infrastructure as a tool for inclusive development.

“Our focus is clear—Governor AbdulRazaq is building a Kwara where no community is left behind. These roads are not just about mobility; they are economic lifelines connecting people to opportunities,” Olododo said while assessing work at several project sites.

The inspection covered key road projects including the Agbamu–Ila-Orangun (Kwara/Osun boundary) road, Sabaja–Oba Isin–Owa Onire road, Ijagbo Palace Road, Fagbemi Road, and the nearly completed Ibrahim Taiwo/Popo Road in Offa. The team also visited the completed Omu Aran–Oro Ago road and the Esie–Arandun road, which is currently 90 percent done.

He added that plans are already underway to commence phased rehabilitation of the Igbaja–Oke Ode Road, aimed at easing travel and facilitating agricultural trade in the region.

While in Agbamu, the commissioner visited the palace of the Arigbamu of Agbamu, Oba Samuel Olaniyi Dare, who lauded the state government for approving the road project that had been a long-standing request of the community since 1993.

“We are grateful to His Excellency for listening to our cry after decades. This road is a symbol of renewed hope for our people,” the monarch stated, pledging the full support of his subjects for the administration’s development agenda.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Agbamu Development Union, Commandant Kayode Oyinloye (Rtd), appreciated the government’s presence in the area and appealed for additional projects to address other community needs.

In Offa, the commissioner paid a condolence visit to the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II, following the recent passing of his mother, Alhaja Hawawu Awele Gbadamosi. He described the late matriarch as a pillar of kindness and service.

Engr. Olododo was accompanied on the inspection by the Governor’s SSA on Infrastructure, Engr. Mudashirua Yusuf Oladimeji, and the Director of Civil Engineering at the Ministry of Works, Engr. Akanbi Moshood.
