The Kwara State Police Command has dismissed reports alleging that armed bandits fleeing military offensives in Zamfara State have relocated to Bani town in Kaiama Local Government Area.
Reacting to the claims, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, described the reports as “false and misleading,” warning against unnecessary panic among residents.
“There is no intelligence or operational report to suggest the presence of armed bandits in Bani or any part of Kwara State,” she stated. “These claims are the handiwork of mischief makers aiming to cause fear and tension.”
The Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, assured residents that security operatives remain on high alert and have intensified surveillance across the state.
“Kwara remains safe, and we are fully prepared to respond to any security threats. We urge the public to disregard unverified reports and avoid spreading misinformation,” he said.
The command encouraged residents to report any suspicious activities through its official channels and provided emergency contact numbers: 07032069501 or 08125275046.
