As Muslims in Kwara State prepare to mark the Eid-el-Kabir festival, the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim community while assuring residents of robust security arrangements across the state.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on behalf of the Commissioner, the police command said it has activated a comprehensive operation plan to ensure a peaceful and incident-free celebration.
“Officers and tactical teams have been deployed to all Eid praying grounds and public gathering spaces to maintain peace and order,” the statement read. “Visibility policing, intelligence gathering, patrols, and guard duties are in full effect to forestall any form of crime during the celebrations.”
The Command also issued a stern reminder to residents regarding the illegal use of public roads for celebrations. “Erecting tents, canopies or causing any form of obstruction on public roads will not be tolerated,” the statement warned. “Defaulters will face the full weight of the law.”
CP Ojo called for cooperation from the public, urging motorists to obey traffic rules, drive with caution, and show consideration for pedestrians and other road users during the festive period.
Reaffirming the police’s commitment, the Command stated, “Our goal is to ensure the safety and security of lives and property before, during, and after the Eid celebrations. We appreciate the continued support of the people of Kwara State.”
