Poised to put smiles on the faces of the needy in the fast approaching Ramadan and lenting period, a non-governmental organization, Maryjoe Humanitarian Foundation, yesterday donated several food items to 20 selected motherless homes in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The packages organised in collaboration with the Oyo state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion included several bags of rice, noodles, semovita and others to cushion the effect of economic hardship among the beneficiaries.
Handing over the items to the beneficiaries at Social Development and Staff Training Centre, Samonda, Ibadan on behalf of the organiser, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Hon. (Mrs) Toyin Balogun joined by the Commissioner for Trade ,Industry, Investment and Cooperatives and member of the House of Assembly that represents Saki East/Saki West state constituency, Hon. Shittu Ibrahim, described the initiative as a reflection of true spirit of compassion, kindness and inclusivity, appreciating the foundation for their unwavering commitment to the welfare of the vulnerable and their invaluable collaboration with her ministry in ensuring that no child is left behind.
According to her, “the welfare of orphans and vulnerable children is a priority for the Oyo State government under the visionary leadership of Engr. Seyi Makinde who is committed to policies and programmes that promote social inclusion, child welfare and sustainable support systems for the most vulnerable members of the society.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Founder/CEO Maryjoe Humanitarian Foundation, Mrs Alice Joseph who was represented by Mr Adebayo Samson Abiodun described the gesture as part of her foundation’s commitment to making a meaningful impact in the lives of the vulnerable and the less privileged people in the society.
She promised that her foundation will continue to invest in initiatives such as education, healthcare, community development or social support that will uplift individuals and create opportunities where they are mostly needed.
Some of the benefitted orphanage homes were OYIZA orphanage home, Mercy of God Home, FOMAN, Dorcas Adunola Oyediji motherless home, God’s Treasure, Jesus the Merciful Global Foundation, Hope Alive Home, Oluwakemi Orphanage and others.
