The Nigerian Armed Forces have reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the lives and properties of citizens, vowing to sustain the momentum in the fight against terrorism, oil theft, and other criminal activities across the country.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, made this known on Thursday while briefing journalists on the military’s achievements from January 3 to February 13, 2025.
According to him, troops neutralized 75 terrorists, arrested 138 suspects, apprehended 36 oil thieves, and successfully rescued 46 kidnapped victims during the period under review.
“In line with our constitutional mandate, we will continue to intensify operations to ensure that criminal elements do not have a safe haven anywhere in the country,” Kangye stated.
He also highlighted significant gains in the South-South region, where troops foiled oil theft operations worth approximately N646.1 million.
“Our operations have disrupted illegal activities and strengthened security, particularly through fighting patrols, clearance operations, ambushes, and search-and-rescue missions,” he added.
The military’s recent successes come amid renewed efforts to combat insecurity nationwide, with authorities pledging sustained action against threats to national stability.
