As Muslim faithful in Kwara State prepare for the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 2,800 personnel across the state to ensure a peaceful and secure environment.
Kwara State Commandant of NSCDC, Dr. Umar JG Mohammed, disclosed this while addressing officers on the security strategy for the festive period. He explained that the deployment covers all 16 Local Government Areas, with a particular focus on high-risk locations, including black spots and areas prone to criminal activities.
“Our personnel have been strategically positioned to monitor critical national assets, respond swiftly to emergencies, and deter any security threats. We are working in collaboration with other security agencies to ensure that residents celebrate without fear,” he stated.
Specialized tactical teams and intelligence operatives have also been mobilized to strengthen surveillance and patrol operations, while Area Commanders and Divisional Officers have been tasked with intensifying security coverage.
Dr. Mohammed urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting any suspicious movements. He also issued a stern warning to criminal elements planning to disrupt public peace, stressing that security operatives are on high alert.
“The NSCDC will not tolerate any act capable of disturbing public order. Our officers are fully prepared to enforce the law and protect lives and property during and after the celebrations,” he warned.
The Commandant also extended his warm wishes to the Muslim community, praying for a joyous and peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
