The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed a kidnap incident which occurred around 5:45 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Eleyin village, near Isanlu-Isin.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the incident involved about five armed men who blocked the highway, intercepted two private vehicles, and forcefully abducted all the occupants to an unknown destination.
The statement revealed that following the distress report, the police, in collaboration with the military and local vigilantes, swiftly launched a rescue operation which led to the successful rescue of two victims, identified as Ganiyu Ajayi and Kolawole Adeyemi.
It added that efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining abductees and apprehend the perpetrators behind the attack.
“The Command has intensified security measures across the area, including aggressive bush combing, strategic patrols, and intelligence-driven operations to prevent further occurrences,” the statement read.
The police urged residents of the state to remain calm and vigilant, assuring that robust strategies have been put in place to tackle criminal activities and ensure the safety of lives and property. The Command also appealed to the public to support security efforts by providing timely and credible information.
The statement further noted that updates would be provided as necessary.
