The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Chief Tony Okocha, has given Governor Siminalayi Fubara a fresh 48-hour ultimatum to resign or face impeachment.
Speaking at his residence on Monday in Port Harcourt, Okocha accused the governor of disrespecting President Bola Tinubu, particularly in handling the ongoing political crisis in the state. He claimed that Fubara had failed to honour the peace initiatives led by the president, prompting the APC to take a firm stance.
“As a political party, we are today advising the governor; there are two options—resign honourably or be impeached. That is the position of the All Progressives Congress,” Okocha declared.
He further alleged that the Supreme Court had provided additional evidence against the governor, making further investigations by the House of Assembly unnecessary.
“48 hours is too much to give him as an ultimatum. He should just resign honourably,” Okocha added.
This ultimatum follows a recent directive from the Rivers State House of Assembly, which gave Governor Fubara 48 hours to present the 2025 budget.
