Rofiat Azeez Eyes World Top 100 After Winning Gold for Kwara at Sports Festival

23rd May, 2025

Nigeria’s number one female squash player, Rofiat Azeez, has set her sights on breaking into the top 100 world rankings by the end of the year, after clinching her second gold medal for Team Kwara at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival in Abeokuta.

Rofiat triumphed in an all-Kwara final of the women’s singles event, defeating her close friend Isaac Blessing in a highly competitive match that she described as both emotional and unforgettable.

“It was a special moment for me,” she said. “Winning against someone I train with regularly wasn’t easy, but I stayed focused. Now, I’m looking forward to another gold in the team event.”

Having already made a mark on the international stage, Rofiat said she is committed to attending more global tournaments to improve her world ranking and sharpen her game.

“My goal is to be among the world’s top 100 before the year ends. It’s going to take hard work, but I’m ready,” she said.

She credited her recent victories to discipline, personal motivation, and consistent support from her coach, as Team Kwara banks on her form to drive further success in the squash events at the festival.
