Kogi Central witnessed a dramatic political moment as Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan made a bold return to her constituency during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, despite a government-imposed ban on public gatherings. Arriving by helicopter, the senator was met by thousands of enthusiastic supporters who defied restrictions to welcome her.

Addressing the massive crowd, Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to the welfare and development of her constituents. She emphasized her unwavering dedication to representing their interests and fostering unity, while also alleging attempts to hinder her engagement with the community.

“We own Ebira together, and no Senate President and his co-travelers would stop me from coming home,” she declared. “This is not a political season or campaign period. It is simply about me, as the senator representing Kogi Central, celebrating Sallah with my people.”

Amid growing concerns, the senator also spoke about alleged threats to her life, urging vigilance among her supporters. She reassured her constituents of her continued service, regardless of political affiliations, and encouraged open dialogue on pressing issues.

Defending her actions, Akpoti-Uduaghan maintained that she respected the law and did not violate the government’s directives. “I’m not a lawbreaker. I appreciate the governor’s orders. We came by helicopter and not by road. No convoy, we are not in the streets, so we didn’t break the law,” she explained.

Reacting to the overwhelming turnout, Hon. Abdulrazak Mamman, spokesperson for Say No to Violence in Ebira Land, dismissed claims that supporters were financially induced. He revealed that many trekked for up to seven hours to be part of the event.

“Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has consistently demonstrated courage and determination, standing for what is right despite all odds. She remains the most popular and accepted leader in Kogi State,” Mamman stated.
