President Bola Tinubu has approved the extension of Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap’s tenure as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), allowing her to serve until December 31, 2026.
Nandap, who joined the NIS on October 9, 1989, was initially set to retire on August 31, 2025. However, with this extension, she will continue in office for an additional 16 months. She was first appointed as Comptroller-General on March 1, 2024.
In granting the extension, Tinubu commended Nandap for her commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s immigration system, urging her to sustain efforts in enhancing border security and migration management. He emphasized that her leadership aligns with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes national security and efficient service delivery.
“The Nigeria Immigration Service plays a crucial role in safeguarding our nation’s borders and ensuring a well-managed migration system. This administration remains committed to supporting the Service in achieving these goals,” Tinubu stated.
With this extension, Nandap is expected to continue spearheading key reforms within the NIS, particularly in the areas of passport processing, border control, and tackling irregular migration.
