President Bola Tinubu has ordered security agencies to swiftly arrest those responsible for the brutal killing of 16 hunters in Uromi, Edo State. The attack, which occurred on Wednesday, March 27, has sparked national outrage.
Expressing deep shock over the incident, Tinubu, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, condemned the killings and directed the police to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.
“The President has condemned the murder of the travelling hunters intercepted by local vigilantes in Uromi. He has directed security agencies to act swiftly to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent further violence,” the statement read.
Tinubu extended his condolences to the bereaved families, assuring them that the culprits would face the full weight of the law. He emphasized that no one should take the law into their hands, warning that acts of jungle justice would not be tolerated.
The President also commended Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and community leaders in Uromi for their efforts in preventing further escalation of the crisis.
