Tinubu’s Two Years Administration Worse Than Buhari’s Eight Years in Office, Will Not Be Re-Elected in 2027 – El-Rufai

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has ruled out President Bola Tinubu winning re-election in 2027 opined that he would be “lucky to come third.”

El-Rufai made this assertion during an interview session with Arise News TV on Monday pointing to economy, lack of infrastructure development and most especially growing insecurity as the main reasons why many Nigerians are dissatisfied with Tinubu’s administration

El-Rufai, one of the major supporters of President Tinubu in the 2023 election, described Tinubu’s tenure so far as a failed administration that is worst than Buhari’s eight years in office, maintaining that many Nigerians have lost faith in the president.

El-Rufai thereby warned that the president’s poor performance may not even earn him second place as he declared that President Tinubu has no pathway to win the 2027.

I have mentioned some time ago that in many parts of the country, particularly in the southeast and the North President Tinubu has a 91% disapproval rating. Even in Lagos, he has a 78% disapproval rating. Okay, it’s a scientific fall, and in some states in the southwest, he’s doing a bit better, like in Ondo and Ekiti, where he’s doing better than a 78% disapproval rating, but there is no way he’s doing better than 50%, even in the southwest; the guy is gone,” El-Rufai stated.

The former Kaduna state governor noted had it been he was aware of Tinubu’s plan to run a bad administration, he wouldn’t have supported him in the 2023 presidential election.

“If you asked me in 2022 or 2023 when we were campaigning that things will ever be this bad, I would, I would say that you are, you are mentally ill.

El-Rufai accused Tinubu of shifting the blame of insecurity to state governors, noted that he should chest all and should be at the forefront of solutions to incessant killings and constant abduction in the country.

He highlighted that President Tinubu should be questioned for mismanaging security fund, one he described as unconstitutional and impeachable offence.

“Why is there no improvement in 2024? Over 2.2 million Nigerians were abducted. 615,000 were killed. Is Nigeria at war? These numbers are worse than the eight years of Buhari in one year. This is data from the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics. So it’s government data. I’m not coaching something out of the air. So for that 100 billion that goes out every month from the Federation account, without appropriation by the National Assembly, by the way, without appropriation by the state assemblies, because part of the money belongs to the states, each state assembly is supposed to appropriate that part.

“So the entire deduction and spending expenditure is unconstitutional. It’s an impeachable offence, but it has been going on for more than 15 months from the last time I checked. So where has that 1.5 trillion gone? What is it being used for? Why is the security situation just getting worse? Why is the government asking communities to protect themselves?” El-Rufai queried.
