It was yet another moment of joy and excitement for the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, the Chairman of Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, member representing Ogbomoso North State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Bisi Oluranti Oyewo and other distinguished personalities as they were honoured with different categories of awards by the Faculty of Engineering, Victor Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan on Monday 30th June, 2025.
The event was held inside the North campus Assembly Hall of the institution during the 6th national Engineering conference with the theme; Enhancing the Sustainable Development Goals for National Building.
Others that were equally awarded include Engr. Oluyinka Alli, Dr. Oludare Akande, Hon. Aderemi Oseni, member representing Ido/Ibarapa federal constituency, Engr. Femi Babalola Engr. Ademola Agoro and others.
The award was in recognition of their individual contributions and consistent support towards the progress of the faculty and the institution’s community as a whole.
The conference tagged “Enhancing the sustainable development goals for national building” is aimed at sensitizing the prospective engineers, projecting their intellectual delivery and celebrating individuals who have made indelible marks on their field of endeavours through their impactful leadership.

The Emerging Leadership Award presented to Hon. Ademola Ige by the Deputy Rector, Victor Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Princess Olaide Salami in the presence of the Acting Rector, Dr. Taiwo Lasisi read thus; “with immense admiration, the Faculty of Engineering, the Polytechnic, Ibadan celebrates your dynamic leadership journey marked by passion, purpose and progressive impact, this award honours your inspiring rise in public service, your dedication to community advancement and your unwavering drive to build a better future through youthful engagement and innovation. Conferred at the STEEM 2025 National Conference.”
Reacting to the award, Hon. Ademola Ige expressed his excitement and appreciation to the leadership of the Faculty as well as the organisers of the event for counting him worthy of this recognition.
He revealed that this award which is the firth he would be receiving from different associations at one time or the other within the Polytechnic Ibadan for his numerous support and contributions to his Alma mata and the society as a whole, will further spur him to do more for the betterment of humanity.

Hon. Ige was accompanied to receive the award by a member of the Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Mogaji Olatoye Olajide, Director of Administration and General Service at the Local Government Staff Pension Board, Mr Kehinde Fashola who led other members of staff of the board, Mr Razaq Olubode and others.
Other awardees were; Professor Josiah Adeyemo (keynote speaker award), Engr. Olayinka Alli (Outstanding leadership award), Dr. Oludare Akande, OON (Trailblazer and mentorship award),the member representing Ogbomoso North constituency, Hon. (Dr.) Bisi Oluranti Oyewo Michael (Leadership Excellence Award), Engr. Raheemat Abisola Adabanija (Leadership Excellence Award) among others.
